Todd Hare is the organizing pastor of Cornerstone Church. He grew up in northern Baltimore County just over the Carroll County line in Upperco. His family has been in the area for a long time and he and his family currently live on the family farm, which was established by his great grandfather in the late 1800's. Nancy, his wife of 20 years has lived in Hampstead since she was born.
Todd's grandfather was a chicken farmer and when he retired, Todd took over the farm. While farming was his primary occupation, he was always involved in Christian ministry to some degree or another. Right out of college he went on part-time staff with Hampstead Youth for Christ and after that was on part-time staff of a local church, Grace Bible Church.
In the 1990's Nancy and Todd began attending Timonium Presbyterian Church and he eventually became an elder and served in various ministries in the church.
Todd always considered himself a servant minister in the church, but never thought he would make it a career. The call to pastoral ministry was a long process. In his words, "It's not that I woke up one day and didn't like farming. It was more like I sensed, through friends, family, prayer, experiences, circumstances and so on, that God wanted me to do something more than volunteer in my local church." Todd worked the family farm until he was 40 then began attending seminary in 2000.
At that time the PCA was looking to put a church in Carroll County. There are several PCA churches on the outskirts but none in the county. Since Todd knew the area it seemed like a natural fit. Eventually Hunt Valley Church agreed to extend a call to him to be a church planter. God had provided not only a desire to do something like this, but also the base of a local church. In 2004, Hunt Valley Church hired Todd as an assistant pastor with the intent of sending him out to start a new church.
Todd was ordained in June of 2005 and the planting of Cornerstone proceeded shortly thereafter.
